Targets & Commitments
We aim to become a net-zero-business by 2050, accelerate the energy transition, and proactively expedite the transition from a linear to a circular economy. We build positive relationships with our employees, communities, suppliers, and other stakeholders, including by addressing social and economic effects of the transition to an environmentally sustainable economy. Our Sustainability Framework built around the three pillars of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). Within this framework, we’ve established five strategic focus areas: Net-Zero Transformation; Natural Resources Management; Health & Safety; People & Their Human Rights; and Ethical Business Practices. For each focus area, we’ve set targets and actions to achieve by 2030, which align with the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Every year, we report on the progress we have made towards our targets.
ESG Risks
Our approach is structured in terms of our five key focus areas Net-Zero Transformation; Natural resources Management; Health & Safety; People & Their Human Rights; and Ethical Business Practices. Identified risks are considered in the context of the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), assessed for magnitude in terms of impact and probability, and appropriate mitigation measures are defined.

Heijplaat Shipping BV generates direct economic value and indirect economic value in numerous countries worldwide. It is therefore imperative that we act in accordance with the highest ethical standards on an international level, everywhere we operate, and enforce these standards throughout our supply chain. We are signatories to the UN Global Compact and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and we conduct our activities in accordance with the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. Across all our global operations, we comply with relevant legislation and require our supply chain to meet the standards set out in our code of conduct and follow our key policies and principles.
